Door Glass Replacement Austin
Pella Rookie of the Year 2025 • Austin’s Only Certified RAM Installer
Yes, we can replace just the glass in your door. If the glass in your entry, French, or sliding door is cracked, broken, or fogged up between the panes, the glass itself can be swapped out without replacing the door. That includes fogged double-pane inserts, single cracked panes, and decorative glass. The door you picked, and the frame it hangs in, stay right where they are.
Old Soul Windows & Doors serves the Austin metro, Lakeway, Bee Cave, Cedar Park, Round Rock, and Dripping Springs. We are brand-agnostic, sourcing the right glass for your door whether it came from Pella, Marvin, RAM, or a builder line nobody remembers.
Can You Replace Just the Glass in an Entry Door?
Yes. On most entry doors, the glass sits in its own insert or frame within the door slab, and that insert can be re-glazed or replaced as a unit. The door, hinges, hardware, and finish are untouched. You keep the door. You lose the cracked or foggy glass.
This matters most on doors worth keeping: a solid wood entry door, a fiberglass door with a stain you like, a door with decorative glass where only one piece is damaged. Fogged glass is the common one, when haze or moisture between the panes won’t wipe away, the sealed unit has failed, and the only real fix is a new sealed unit made to the same size.
There are cases where glass-only is the wrong call. If the door slab is rotted or warped, or the frame is letting water in, new glass in a failing door wastes your money. We’ll tell you that plainly and walk you through entry door replacement options instead. No pressure either way.
Do You Fix Fogged Glass in French & Sliding Doors?
Fog between the panes means the seal on the insulated glass unit has failed and moisture is condensing inside the glass, where you cannot clean it. The fix is a new sealed glass unit, built to the same dimensions, set back into your existing door. Here is the door glass we replace:
When the seal on an insulated glass unit fails, moisture condenses between the panes and no cleaner can reach it. We build a new sealed unit to the same size and set it back into your door.
A single damaged pane doesn’t mean a new door. We remove the broken glass, prep the opening, and install custom-made tempered glass cut to your exact dimensions.
Individual lites behind a grille can be replaced one at a time. We match the grille pattern and glass spec so the repaired door doesn’t look repaired.
The glass panel comes out of its rolling frame and a new insulated unit goes in. A fogged patio door turns back into a clear view of your yard in a single visit.
Privacy and decorative glass can be sourced to match. We replace the damaged insert without disturbing the rest of the door.
The narrow glass panels beside and above an entry door are glazed the same way. Cracked or fogged sidelites and transoms get new tempered or insulated glass to match.
How Much Does Door Glass Replacement Cost in Austin?
Less than replacing the whole door, in almost every case. The price comes down to three things: the size of the glass, the glass itself (single-pane tempered, insulated double-pane, Low-E, or decorative), and how your door holds its glass in place. A small entry-door lite and a full sliding-door panel are very different jobs.
We don’t publish one-size-fits-all prices because doors don’t come in one size, and we won’t quote a teaser number that changes when somebody shows up at your house. Send a photo through the quote form and you get a real number for your actual door. The quote is the price.

What About Sliding Glass Door Repair in Austin?
It depends on what is actually broken. If the problem is the glass, cracked, shattered, or fogged, we replace the glass panel and the door keeps working as it did. If the problem is the door itself, glass will not fix it.
Glass is cracked or fogged, but the door rolls and locks fine to glass replacement. That is this page. Send us a photo.
Door drags, sticks, jumps the track, or leaks air at the frame to the rollers, track, or frame are the issue. Start with our sliding glass door replacement page. If you are not sure which one you have, send the photo anyway, we’ll tell you which fix you actually need, even when the honest answer is the cheaper one.
Our Door Glass Replacement Process
Most glass-only jobs follow the same five steps:
A photo of the door and a rough measurement through our quote form tells us most of what we need. Or call and describe it.
From your photos or an on-site visit, we identify the unit: tempered, insulated double-pane, Low-E coating, tint, grille pattern.
Tempered and insulated units are built to order for your door’s exact opening. Tempered glass can’t be cut after treatment, so every piece is made to size.
Most glass-only replacements are a single visit once the new unit arrives. We protect your floors, set the glass, seal it, and clean up.
Our workmanship carries a minimum two-year warranty, on top of the glass manufacturer’s own warranty.

Yes. On most entry doors the glass sits in its own insert or frame within the door slab, and that insert can be re-glazed or replaced as a unit. The door, hinges, hardware, and finish are untouched. Fogged double-pane inserts, cracked panes, and decorative glass can all be replaced without replacing the door.
Yes. Fog between the panes means the insulated glass unit’s seal has failed and moisture is trapped inside the glass. The fix is a new sealed glass unit built to the same dimensions and set back into the existing door, with grille patterns and glass specs matched.
The building code treats glass in doors as a hazardous location. Section R308.4.1 of the International Residential Code, which Austin enforces (2021 edition), requires glazing in swinging, sliding, and bifold doors to be safety glazing, in practice, tempered glass. Door glazing must also meet the federal CPSC standard 16 CFR 1201. Tempered glass crumbles into small pebbles instead of shards when it breaks.
Less than replacing the whole door, in almost every case. The price depends on the size of the glass, the glass type (single-pane tempered, insulated double-pane, Low-E, or decorative), and how the door holds its glass. Old Soul quotes from a photo of your actual door, and the quote is the price.
